Experience
Ever since I was a child, I always knew I wanted to become a teacher. Having grown up in a family that was mostly comprised of teachers, I was exposed to the "teaching lifestyle" at such a young age. As I venture out on my own as an undergraduate student, I intend on pursuing a History degree with a teaching emphasis. In addition to having to take rigorous history classes, I am also required to take classes that expose me to the social sciences, including sociology, psychology, geography, political science, and economics. As a secondary school teacher, I am required to have a wide range of knowledge from all areas of the social sciences. In terms of history, I have a preference for American history and culture. I hope to be able to teach 11th Grade United States History once I begin teaching. I am currently minoring in American Studies which will provide me with various perspectives on American culture; including religion, history, art, political science and literature. As an future history teacher, I find it as my utmost importance to educate our future citizens of the world with a strong social studies based curriculum. Social studies does more than just teach us about important events, people and dates, rather the good the bad and the ugly of humanity and how we learn from our past mistakes in search for a better society.
